Learn How To Deal With Sensitive Skin In 5 Steps

We know that living with a sensitive skin is not easy.

When you have sensitive skin, your skin can be irritated by things like the food you eat or the products you apply to skin or just by going out without sunscreen, on a sunny day.

In order to protect your sensitive skin, you need to take extra-special care of it. And that is where things get tricky. But don't worry, we will give you some tips on how to deal with sensitive skin, how to protect it and how to nurture it.

Do you have sensitive skin? Here are some of the symptoms:

1. Your skin feels tight and itchy

Your skin feels tight and itchy, especially after a shower, washing your face or when you're out in the sun.

When you have sensitive skin, not all cleansers will do. If your cleanser is too harsh for your skin, it might feel tight and itchy. After you wash your face, your skin should not only feel clean but also remain soft and moisturized. If you use a product which strips the skin of moisture, like a simple soap or a harsh cleanser, it might cause your skin to react and not in a good way. Use soap-free cleanser which has a moisturizing element to it.

If you are looking for a great cleanser for sensitive skin, you can try this one - it's our customer's favourite:

The COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser is designed to help your skin sustain moisture all day, every day! If you are concerned about irritation caused by the slightest stress or your skin is flaky and super dry, this product particularly helpful!

2. Your skin has flaky, rough patches

Itchy, red, dry skin might be caused by inflammation. Sadly, it can feel like a permanent condition.

But the good news is you can use some products to help deal with this skin condition. In this case, it is always recommended to see a dermatologist before trying on different skin care products and your skin can react in unpredictable ways.

3. Your Skin is burning or stinging

Sometimes this feeling can be caused by your skin care products, reacting against each other. If you use two or more anti-aging creams, it can wreak havoc on your skin. It is better to apply only one cream at a time.

One of the creams that our customers always get for sensitive skin is from The Saem.

The Saem Chaga Anti-Wrinkle Cream 60ml is an intensely nourishing cream for softer, brighter, younger-looking skin. It harnesses the powerful antioxidant and firming properties of the cave-fermented chaga mushroom to smooth, brighten and revive skin showing the first signs of ageing.

I think I have sensitive skin. But how do I deal with my sensitive skin?

Here are some measures that you should consider in order to take better care of your sensitive skin:

1. Apply sunscreen

Regardless of your skin type, sunscreen is always necessary. It helps protect sensitive skin from harmful ultraviolet(UV) rays. But keep in mind that for your sensitive skin, you need to use a sunscreen with ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, which offer protection without any side effects.

Don’t forget to apply sunblock 20~ 30 minutes before you go out in the sun. Plus, you need to apply it even in winter or on cloudy days.

If you want to use a sunscreen without any side effect, you can use this one. This product has zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.

 2. Choose the right skin care products

For your sensitive skin, choose your skin product carefully. You should avoid skin care and cosmetic products that have following ingredients: alcohol, harsh exfoliants, sodium lauryl sulphate, petrochemicals, acids, colouring agents, or synthetic fragrances.

Use products that have following powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients: white tea, green tea, aloe vera, chamomile, marine plants, calendula and oats. Plus, the higher the SPF, the more irritating the product can be. It is good to use an SPF 30.

I would like to recommend those two products which contain aloe vera and calendula respectively.

 3. Eat healthy food and drink sufficient water

Also, avoid consuming excessive caffeine. And make sure you drink enough water, on a daily basis. Try to eat a majority of organic produce and healthy fats with sufficient Omega 3 fatty acids.

4. Go easy on cosmetics

If you have sensitive skin, you should be careful when applying too much cosmetic products, as well. Try to keep your skin care regimen simple. Apply a face powder containing few preservatives, a silicone-based foundation for minimal skin irritation, pencil eyeliner and eyebrow fillers.

Avoid applying waterproof cosmetics or complex anti-aging products and using too much makeup. Don’t forget to throw away your old, expired products.

5. Moisturise your skin

You can use a moisturizing product to help skin hold on to moisture, which helps your skin to resist drying and abrasion.
